The FairTradeCenter Breisgau works since more than 10 years in the Fair Trade sector. This involves on the one hand the design and development of products. Such a project is the brand “GREEN&FAIR”, a brand of products made of FSC®-certified natural rubber. In cooperation with the Fair Rubber Association and the local producers we created a whole range of products – starting at elastics and going to hot-water bottles.
On the other hand the FairTradeCenter Breisgau functions as wholesaler. Apart from the GREEN&FAIR products it imports and distributes mainly Indian handicrafts. The trading practice is based on the ten principles set by the WFTO: to create opportunities for disadvantaged producers, transparency, fair trade practices, fair payment, no child nor forced work, no discrimination, good working conditions, to empower the producers, to promote Fair Trade, ecological sustainability (more information: www.wfto.com).
But Fair Trade includes the clients as well: the same conditions are applied to everyone, e.g. no minimum order quantity and free shipping if the order exceeds 150 €.
And on the ecological side the FairTradecenter Breisgau tries to minimize their CO2 emmission: by climate-friendly shipping (GoGreen by German Mailing DHL Group) and consuming natural gas and local green power. In addition they print on 100% recycled paper and the delivery boxes are reused for shipping.
